How does a grounding product work?
Have you ever experienced this: For example, you touch a door latch, and you get a little “zap”—sometimes there’s even a small spark. This shows that your body has built up a static charge from Wi-Fi and electrical devices in the office or at home.
The grounding products available in our store prevent this “static charge” from building up in the first place. You can verify and measure the reduction in voltage on the body using a multimeter or grounding tester.
Conductive Textiles
At the heart of every grounding product are conductive textiles, typically cotton or other natural fibers. They contain silver fibers, carbon, or stainless steel filaments. This special weave ensures a consistently low surface resistance. Result: The textiles efficiently absorb electrostatic charges from the body and dissipate them.
Connection
Plug, terminal, or socket
The connection cable uses copper-based conductors with an insulating jacket. It connects to the product, such as the fitted sheet. Each product features a connection jack, a button, or a conductive snap-button strip. The snap button is used as a mechanically and electrically safe solution. It is connected via a separate cable to a grounding plug or a clamping device. This connection unit serves to reliably couple the conductive fabric to the rest of the signal path (cable) without risking contact resistance.
Grounding Cable
The grounding cable consists of a sturdy, insulated copper or stainless steel conductor. It transmits the potential from the connection point to the grounded outlet or to a grounding electrode. Safety is our top priority: A safety resistor is integrated into the cable, typically in the range of 100 kOhm. This resistor limits any fault currents to an absolutely safe level. The connectors are often equipped with an additional kink-protection sleeve.
Connection Module
The connection module connects the conductive surface to the ground terminal. Nickel-plated metal contact surfaces reduce the contact resistance. Heat-resistant plastics ensure the mechanical integrity of the module. The electrical connection to ground is typically established via the ground prong of a grounded outlet. It is crucial that only the ground conductor is used (circuits for the phase or neutral conductors remain unused). This ensures that no 230V line voltage can be applied to the product; instead, only equipotential bonding to ground occurs.
Test Fields & Measurability
Experts measure surface resistance, series resistance, and conductivity. Our customers can purchase a multimeter in our store. It displays the voltage difference before and after skin contact. An earth tester checks the protective conductor path and provides clear feedback on its function.
Security
Grounding products are designed so that their grounding resistance (including safety resistance) is defined and documented in the test report in accordance with standards. The materials used are tested for skin compatibility, hypoallergenicity, and wash resistance. All connecting components are designed for low corrosion and long service life.
